Rizek says Moledo may struggle at Coritiba after Inter penalty

2 min read

Coritiba defender Rodrigo Moledo has become the central figure in Internacional’s win over the Paranaense side last Wednesday, and the fallout is already spreading beyond the pitch. SporTV presenter André Rizek believes the centre-back may find it hard to get back to normal at the club.

A costly moment in added time

In the 45th minute of the second half, with the game in the balance in a crucial clash in the fight against relegation, Moledo made a clumsy flying challenge on Juninho and conceded a penalty. Alerrandro converted it, and Internacional took all three points.

Rizek: “It is a very strong play”

Rizek said he thought it would be very difficult for Moledo to continue his career at Coritiba calmly. He acknowledged the harshness of the situation, noting that football can be cruel to the people involved in moments like this, while stressing that he was not saying this was right, only describing the reality.

Loffredo calls the foul avoidable

Fellow SporTV commentator André Loffredo felt the incident could have been avoided. He compared the challenge to a taekwondo or karate kick and said the referee needed VAR to review it. He described the penalty as unnecessary and reckless, and said the defeat leaves Coritiba in a precarious position with only a few rounds left. Even so, Loffredo believed the club will not be relegated, though the result leaves them in a difficult spot.

Tight table in the relegation zone

With 42 points, Coritiba sit 11th in the Brasileirão table, five points clear of the first side inside the Z-4. That gap, however, could shrink by the end of the 35th round.
