Brasileirão Round 34: Suspensions and Injuries Ahead of Midweek Games

2 min read

Brasileirão Série A returns for round 34 with several key players unavailable, and the Cartola market closes on Tuesday, 3 November, at 19:29 Brasília time. Flamengo, the leaders, will be without Plata for their midweek clash with Grêmio at the Maracanã, while Grêmio have their own suspension problems.

Flamengo and Grêmio miss key players

Plata is suspended for Flamengo, who face Grêmio on Wednesday. Renato Gaúcho’s side also lose goalkeeper Weverton and striker Carlos Vinícius to suspension for the same fixture.

São Paulo and Corinthians

São Paulo must cope without Sabino, who is suspended and also on the injury list. Corinthians have a different issue: Matheuzinho picked up his third yellow card against Mirassol and cannot play in the derby against São Paulo, so the right-back spot will need a new option.

Cruzeiro lose three to suspension

Cruzeiro have three players suspended in Matheus Pereira, Villalba and William, and five more on the injury list, including Gabriel Pec and Sinisterra.

Other absences

Fluminense are without Ignácio through suspension, and Mirassol have Bruno Santos and Edson Carioca unavailable. Palmeiras are missing Jefté, Paulinho and Ramón Sosa through injury, while Vitória have Brítez suspended and several injured players. Atlético-MG, Botafogo, Bahia, Athletico-PR and Internacional also have injury concerns, though none of them have players suspended.

Rotation possible

Clubs still involved in the Copa do Brasil semifinal could rest some players, which may affect team selections in the coming rounds.

Round 34 fixtures begin on Tuesday with Chapecoense against Mirassol and Internacional against Coritiba. The Bragantino against Santos match was played on Monday and does not count for Cartola.
