Nacional sanctioned with two closed-door matches and fine after objects thrown

1 min read

Nacional has been punished with two matches behind closed doors and a fine of nearly $200,000, meaning it will play Albion without supporters in the stands.

The sanction follows objects being thrown from the Scarone stand into the visiting sector during the club’s matches against Deportivo Maldonado and Liverpool. Nacional’s home games in that period were the setting for the incidents that led to the penalty.

Peñarol also sanctioned

Nacional’s city rival, Peñarol, was also sanctioned in the same disciplinary action.
