Sportivo Luqueño produced a convincing away performance to thrash Rubio Ñu 5-0 in a direct clash for survival in the Clausura APF 2026. Marcelo Pérez, Iván Maggi, Kevin Pereira and Marcelo Ojeda were among the scorers as the visitors dominated the second half after a red card for the hosts.
A tense start and an early header
Rubio Ñu began brightly. Sergio Fretes delivered a cross into the penalty area, and Rodrigo Ruiz Díaz dived for a header, but he could not direct it on target and Luqueño cleared the danger. As the half wore on, the visitors grew into the match and began to create chances from set pieces. Alexis Cantero’s dangerous delivery forced a stretching save from Lautaro Maldonado.
Pérez and Maggi put Luqueño in control
Luqueño broke the deadlock before the half-hour mark with a well-worked move. Pérez, found by Samuel Beltrán, switched play for Lautaro Comas, whose high cross to the far post was met by Pérez, who beat a momentary lapse in marking between Víctor Cabañas and Braian Blasi to head home. Pérez came close to doubling the lead shortly afterwards, but his shot was cleared off the line by Javier Vallejos.
Luqueño did double their advantage before the break. Giovanni Bogado’s cross into the box looked under control for Maldonado, but the goalkeeper fumbled the ball, and Maggi pounced to fire in a powerful right-footed shot.
Red card changes the game
Rubio Ñu brought on three experienced players after the interval in search of a way back, but they ran into a well-organised defence and an assured performance from goalkeeper Nicolás Campisi. The hosts’ frustration grew, and their situation worsened after an hour when Claudio Núñez fouled Bogado in midfield and was shown a straight red card.
Goals pile up in the final minutes
With the numerical advantage, Luqueño pushed on in the closing stages. Bogado turned provider again, teeing up Maggi for a low finish across goal, and later set up Pereira, who rounded the keeper and slotted home. Ojeda sealed the rout in the first minute of added time with a fierce left-footed strike that flew into the top right corner.
