Olimpia coach Sánchez, known as ‘Vitamina’, has hit back at Cerro Porteño’s complaint, calling the move exaggerated and an unnecessary attempt to stir up trouble. The Argentine strategist urged the Asunción giants’ traditional rivals to keep calm and called on club officials to show restraint.
Speaking to the media, Sánchez said he did not believe the complaint would succeed and questioned the reaction to what he described as a mistake by Romeo. He stressed that this was simply a football match and that the matter should not be blown out of proportion.
A call for silence and self-reflection
Sánchez went further, pointing to recent history between the two clubs. He argued that Cerro Porteño had responded in the same way when a previous league match between the sides was suspended after disturbances, and suggested that such complaints are often driven by the need to placate their own supporters rather than by any genuine institutional gravity.
His message to both clubs was clear: sometimes the best response is to say nothing and move forward. Rather than looking at their rivals, he said, Paraguayan clubs should focus on improving themselves.
