Ødegaard Strikes as Arsenal Break Down Hull City; Hincapié Starts on Bench

1 min read

Arsenal moved past a stubborn Hull City side with a 1-0 scoreline at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, 7 November, as Martin Ødegaard’s 72nd-minute goal gave Mikel Arteta’s team the breakthrough they had been searching for in the Premier League.

A patient breakthrough

Hull City set up to keep their lines compact and restrict space, and for much of the match Arsenal controlled possession without finding a clear path to goal. The Norwegian captain finally made the difference by capitalising on an attack, turning in the rebound after Noni Madueke’s effort. If the result holds, it will let Arsenal keep their place at the top of the table.

Ecuadorian watch

There was limited involvement for the South American contingent. Óscar Zambrano was not included in the Hull City squad, so he missed the trip to London. Piero Hincapié began on the bench for Arsenal, having started the recent Champions League win over Slavia Prague.

With the lead in hand, Arsenal are looking to secure three important points before the international break.
