Bayern Give No Date for Luis Díaz’s Return: ‘No Deadline’

2 min read

Bayern Munich has declined to set a timeline for the return of Colombia forward Luis Díaz, who is still recovering from a small tear in the back of his left thigh. The club’s stance means the winger will have to wait until the upcoming international break before his progress can be assessed step by step.

A Cautious Recovery

Díaz was hurt on October 21 during Bayern’s draw with Arsenal in the Champions League. Assistant coach Aaron Danks said it was difficult to pinpoint when the Colombian would be back. For now, Díaz and Jamal Musiala will complete individual training sessions during the week of November 2 to 7, before rejoining the full squad once the international players return from their national teams. Danks was clear that no deadline has been set.

Díaz has already returned to training, but he has not yet rejoined the first-team group. He has done differentiated work and ball-control exercises, and the injury also ruled him out of Colombia’s squad for the November double FIFA date.

Injury Crisis at the Club

Bayern are dealing with a wave of injuries in the 2026-27 season, and Danks described a gradual process of reintegration. Most players were back in training, and Musiala has also rejoined the group, which the staff considers a positive sign. Musiala is not yet ready for the next match, however. Aleksandar Pavlović took part in training as well, and his fitness is still being monitored. Manuel Neuer has resumed training and is progressing well. Alphonso Davies may need rest because of the heavy workload, and the staff will decide on the final lineup based on how players respond.

Results Without Díaz

Bayern have kept their form, but the team has missed Díaz’s pace and attacking depth. Without him, they drew 2-2 with Augsburg, beat RB Leipzig 6-1, and drew 2-2 with Arsenal in the Champions League. They also won 2-0 away at Atlético Madrid, with goals from Lennart Karl and Konrad Laimer. The club remains in the race for the Bundesliga lead.

Bayern’s next fixtures are a Bundesliga trip to Mainz on November 7, a home game against Cologne on November 20, a Champions League match against Lille in France on November 25, and a Bundesliga visit to Hamburg on November 28.
