Chapecoense Hold the Edge Over Fluminense in Head-to-Head Record

2 min read

Chapecoense host Fluminense on Saturday at 7:30 pm at the Arena Condá, in a Brasileirão clash where the two sides are chasing very different goals. Chapecoense sit at the bottom of the table with 18 points, and their hopes of staying in the top flight are fading. Fluminense are fifth with 51 points, level with Cruzeiro in fourth, and they need a place in the top four to earn a direct berth in the Copa Libertadores group stage.

A Positive History for the Hosts

Despite their current struggles, Chapecoense have a respectable record against Fluminense. Across 15 meetings, the Santa Catarina club have won six, drawn four and lost five.

Supporters still remember a particularly one-sided encounter in 2014. Played at the Maracanã in the 35th round of Série A, that match ended in a 4-1 win for Chapecoense. Bruno Silva scored twice, while Camilo and Leandro Pereira also found the net. Fluminense’s consolation came via an own goal from defender Rafael Lima.

Results at the Arena Condá

The head-to-head picture is more mixed when the games are restricted to Chapecoense’s home ground. The hosts have three wins there, two draws and two defeats against Fluminense. Chapecoense have scored eight goals in those fixtures, while Fluminense have netted six.

Recent Meeting

The most recent clash took place in April, in the 13th round of Série A at the Maracanã. Fluminense came out on top 2-1, with John Kennedy and Savarino on the scoresheet. Ênio replied for Chapecoense, but it was not enough to bring back a result.
